Tron Legacy: A Heritage to Behold

Saw TRON LEGACY yesterday and the experience was awesome...especially the 3D. I am totally satiated with TRON. Having re-watched TRON (1982) the night before really did wonders to the ‘Tron Legacy Experience’ albeit a lot of doubts regarding the depth of the plot remained unanswered in Legacy. Though I suggest the prospective viewers the same...Watch TRON before TRON Legacy.

The original Tron itself was a marvel of its time. The CG in the movie, even to imagine, then was something to gape at. I was amazed at the level of depth it achieved in terms of 3D. Tron, in all its glory, deserved to be the cult classic it is now. And the storyline was also far-fetched at the time and (in similar fashion) I’d say that The Matrix can’t deny that they had more of an idea than an inspiration of ‘The One’ from Tron.

Being 28 years apart...really showed! Tron Legacy is Eye-Candy at its best and the best use of 3D ever since Avatar...maybe even more than Avatar. The neon glows, the light streaks of the Light Cycles and one uber-cool vehicle (I am itching to spoil it for u but I am feeling sympathetic!), the de-rezzing everything looked supercool in 3D. Tron Legacy is meant to be seen in 3D! PERIOD.

The Plot moves forward with an irresponsible-punk of a Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), Son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), pissed off at his father’s departure creates havoc in his own company…Encom. Until Sam was told by Allen (Kevin’s friend and more), that he got a pager messaged which was sent from his father at Flynn’s Arcade. Sam goes to check this out and goes digitized (the same way as his dad), into the GRID although by a different threat this time. The rest I'd let to watch. There's isn't much 'backdrop' I can say as everything is explained in the dialogues. Garrett, seemed plastic and grumpy in the previews, wasn't so in the movie and gave a good performance. Jeff Bridges is still the star of Tron Legacy...being both C.L.U (Figure who he is yourselves) and Kevin. Michael Sheen & James Frain also shines in their own roles. Olivia Wilde as Quorra was over-the-top...sure, she'd be added to all the eye-candy that Legacy provides and will be remembered by geek-herd for long. I, myself never thought programs would look that sexy.

Self note: Olivia Wilde (as Quorra) is uber-HOTT!

Tron Legacy has THE most awesome action sequences of this winter. LightCycle battles, LightDisc Wars and the finale sequence that'd make you drool...that'd blow you away. I have ever since been drooling at LightCycle pics over the net and wallpapers. Tron Legacy has great emotional sequences as well...as its more of a father-son story amongst all the the 'Technologic' stuff.

Daft Punk really did a great job in creating the Tron Legacy score. I was a bit skeptical at seeing their names on the Tron Legacy OST...but upon hearing it...its one of the best scores ever. Even an homage to the original Tron theme was incorporated in the score. I can’t pick out a specific track fav from the OST…but I’d say…‘Tron Legacy’, ‘Flynn Lives’, ‘Arena’, ‘The Game has Changed’, ‘C.L.U’…. And who wouldn’t love ‘Derezzed’?

Believe me you will never repent watching Tron Legacy in 3D. Even if you didn’t get to watch the original Tron, I’d suggest you to take the risk and go watch Legacy coz you’ll be surprised how much you’ll end up liking it….at the least, for all the visual orgasm and its great use of 3D.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Wallpaper

Been playing Assassin's Creed Series for a while. Even when I started with AC1 I was impressed by the Anvil engine and its graphical prowess. Never had I seen such visuals in a game before (Exception: Crysis)...though what impression I had on its graphics I lost in its gameplay...which was a bit tedious and that Jerusalem bug pissed me off ever more. Nonetheless AC stood out from the games released back then.
Then came Assassin's Creed 2 and man that game rocked... Frist of all there was a gr8 story to boot and gameplay rocked twice. The scope of AC2 universe is vast. Ezio is cool, witty and dangerous but I still prefer Altair's silence, stealth and serenity.
I thought Assassin's Creed Brotherhood would fall! Though it didn't and its being hailed as the best AC game ever. gotta play it when it releases on the PC...hopefully this Jan. Never Should have been Cancelled!

Now And Again was one of those awesome Cancel-Syndrome affected TV Shows which got cancelled after the first season. The reason was stated by CBS Channel as 'unjustifiable expense of the program'. This was one of the shows I enjoyed in the evenings on televisions...when I used to be just a kid who enjoyed nothing more than Friends and The Simpsons. Now And Again had an excellent cast and the chemistry between the characters were awesome and touching. After the season finale I never knew that CBS had cancelled the show and i thought AXN had just stopped broadcasting it entirely.

I had been tranced by the theme song of Now And Again...over and over again there's not a place in the vast Internet I hadnt searched for the song 'Gimme a Sign' Performed by Ariel Ryder & Narada Michael W...though all I got was snippets of the original songs..not the full version. Been searching for it ever since when I stumbled upon this video on Youtube which had this song as the BG Music..I ripped it off the video and enhanced it to create this mp3 for fellow fans of the show as well as the music.

Digital Art: Going Beyond!

Going Beyond the Water and to the skies!
Jellyfishes creeps me out...PERIOD.
But thats no excuse not to paint it digitally...
Ever wondered what'd happen if those jellyfishes took off to the skies? Nothing much other than we, on the surface, be often stung :P

'Submerged' had been a WIP since June 8 2010.
I had no idea where to go with it...up until today.
I wanted to paint a creature or a monster or a surreal painting of a drowning girl.
But I went for a more a conceptual one.

WhizKid - Cel-shaded-esque Logo

I have always been obsessed with Cel-shaded graphics. The first time I played XIII, the time I saw Scanner Darkly and recently playing Borderlands...the novelty never faded.

ThinkCaps (always wanted one) also amused me when I was a kid...I remember reading a comic strip of a little kid who used his thinkcap to escape outta sticky situations. Dont remember what the comic strip was called though.
This logo is a tribute to both the ThinkCap & the cel-shaded world.

I did a bit of research before doing Caret logo.
The 'Caret' as it seems has different meaning and usage though the most common one is used in proof reading. Inserting some words/text in between two other words/text is what Caret is used for.

In December 2009 EA Announced MEDAL OF HONOR with its modern war setting and a new War-Hero...who is supposed to be tough as nails and awefully resembling Capt Price/Soap MacTavish.
WTH...I'll jus cross my fingers and wait for it...coz before MW2 I was a MOH Fanboy!

Injecto Logo - Prototype

2 days back asked injecto me to design him a logo.

OrangeFolds Logo

Another concept application logo design.

This time for Apple Ipod. As the tagline says "its not Apple anymore". OrangeFolds replaces the Apple iTunes and the makes some firmware changes for the iPods and makes it much more than a mere iPod adding more features, and being alot user friendly.

LOST Typography!

"LOST... Where the fine Line between REAL and UNREAL fades..." Ah Whatever!
LOST is the second of my Typography and I hope to do alot more.
Done, with inspirations from LOST (series) oozing from last night, and an accidental design concept from a recent design tip acquired from vipindhanurdharan.
This was unexpected, unbelievably done in minutes and for me it looked inexplicably good...leaving me with an unquenchable thirst to design more!
This LOST piece could be considered a fan art piece for LOST Series coz I have been seeing a lot ot recently. OR it could just be visual...as the subtitle suggests...'LO' & 'ST' is LOST in between the fine line that defines REAL & UNREAL. Choose what you may.... :D

I Love GOTHAM

I know I have been over-using Gotham font alot.
Browse through my Gallery and you'll know yourself.
But what can I do?
I LOVE GOTHAM!

It all started with INCEPTION. I started noticing how beautiful the Gotham font was...then I went over to seeing it all over the net. Somehow Gotham was considered the new Helvetica. I saw the font extensively used, mostly on movie posters of Gran Torino, Invictus, Hereafter (all the 3 movies are directed by Clint Eastwood and the posters designed by The Cimarron Group. Ever since that I have been in love with the font. Somehow it made the design look cool just adding the font.

Many people still live in the Helvetica era and I havnt seen much people using Gotham...either coz they dont like it better than Helvetica or maybe its paid and rare to find
The Color pun is intended deliberately! (Guess what the PUN is?)

Vulcan Salute: A Star Trek Minimalistic Wallpaper

I always had been a Star Wars fanboy. Though that was until I saw J J Abrams' Star Trek and wow I was blown away. The movie was extremely good and 2 weekends back and I bought the DVD and saw it again and went through the extras and stuff and I thought I gotta do something as a tribute to Spock Prime.
I still am more affined to Star Wars than Star Trek but its never a rule not to love both movie series simultaneously. Both series has its own ups and downs...(Hayden Christensen being Darth Vader and making Vader as a Pussy...being the worst).

True Blood Minimalistic Wallpaper

When I first heard of True Blood, I thought it was just milking dry the vamp craze that Twilight had started...So I thought it'd be just another vamp-romance-chick-flick. Though when I finally started seeing it a few months back, I was dumbstruck at how the story and direction made the series so engrossing and immersive.

True Blood is the perfect mixture of thrills, chills and penultimate fantasy any guy could wish for.
Although True Blood minimalistic posters and wallpapers are abundant...this is my contribution for one of the top rated series of this time.

Monochrome Ninja

'Monochrome Ninja' is the by-product of a long-brooded concept.
This is just a doodle of that idea...tried to make it as simple as possible and for a work of under 20 minutes I suppose it looks good. Done in Photoshop CS4...I wanted it to look vectorish thus the plain bamboo designs and sharp edges.
By the way the color scheme is obviously inspired from LIMBO. So no hatemails...LIMBO fanboys!
I might do a full fledged digital 'Monochrome Ninja' sometime soon...and I have a pretty good idea of how to revamp MC.

MildBreeze Logo

So once again I've started churning up Logos.

MinBreeze started out, as, always a sketch. It was one fine morning and I had nothing to do here at office. IDK why...Office is such a good place to think and churn stuff up...Creative/Destructive and maybe even Perverted :P.

So I just thought about breeze flowing through the windows and thought about how I could represent it visually and minimally. Couldnt figure out a way so I just started on another logo design and then things started goin the breezy thing again and within 10 mins or so MildBreeze logo was ready! WHOA! And it looked good for such a short time of 10mins. Fiddled with it more and tweaked some nice colors. Added the typo with Gotham Black (Yes, again, Toldya I am in love with that font, he he).

The Triplet Logo: A Bastard Child!

Triplet Logo Design is a Bastard! It came outta nowhere (when I was attending a boring office meeting) and I sketched it and just kept on revamping it. It came out as a simple Bar Design when I sketched it and I decided to add some 3D feel to it when I revamping it. The Colors, apparently, represents RGB...So it could be a logo for a Studio or Multimedia Service Agency. I deliberately made the GREEN bar bigger than the others coz GREEN is what drives most of us. :P
The name was the difficult part. I went on trying RGB, TRIO and stuff concerned with THREE and Colors and BARS. None, I felt, suited the design...Finally I got the name 'TRIPLET' and a suitable tagline to go with 'Good things always comes in Three'... Get it? (horny!) :P
Font used is GOTHAM BLACK.... As I am so love with it after seeing the Inception posters!

The Tadpole Toys Logo

The Tadpole Logo another "bastard child" from the same meeting. The sketch was so much cuter than the logo...Or so I suppose! But the over all logo design turned out just the way I visualised it to be. Even the Violet shades! The 'toys' was later added though. I felt it too be too cute and wanted kids to adore this little tadpole...usually I felt they are gross! :D

DeathNote

DeathNote has been in the Design phase for sometime now.
I mean I sketched it a month back...when I was going thru that disturbed phase (On 2nd thot...wen wasnt I ever distrubed? LOL). So it had remained a sketched since then....ie until today morning. When I suddenly opend Photoshop and started working on the sketch....and within like 4 hours...VOILA.... Mr. Boone is writing his Deathnote in Digital!
I know with 4 hours...It still doesnt look polished...like 'Abducted Wire'. Or Maybe its just me! See the original sketch here

Coffee Time!

Aah yes Coffee...what could be more refreshing than a cup?
Warm to hold the cup and when u place yours lips on the rim of the cup the warmth just flows into u...making u feel all rejuvenated...
Was just feeling bored and was completely sitting 'jobless' at office and it hit me...I didn't do much personal work last 2 months. Oy vey! So I started working on this. I know I had a great concept in mind....But I guess this is kinda faulty execution. Completely done in Photoshop CS4 in under 2 hours!

Inception: Wallpapers

Still clinging on to the marvelous movie experience that was Inception.
So went onto create some wallpapers for my laptop.
Its not 'creation' exactly...just took abstract snaps from the Inception trailer which appealed to me...slapped the logo and VOILA...My Wallpapers are ready!
